McNary – Horse Heaven Hills
The McNary vineyard which is located in the Southeast corner of the Horse Heaven Hills is cooler site as compared to the typically warm Horse Heaven Hills standards. Initially, the vineyard was planted in 2012 with subsequent plantings through 2017. The vines at McNary are planted in high density at 1245 vines per acre.
Situated on the Columbia River, this site sits in sandy soils on a basalt cliff overlooking the McNary dam. The newer planting has allowed Zirkle to select a number of high performing clones to promote quality and diversity.
